I could not be more grateful for the benefits [FYSCI] has offered... FYSCI allowed me to focus more on school and supported me during the financial uncertainty scares of the pandemic.
Programs like FYSCI help students navigate college life...FYSA became a place where I was able to be free when the outside world didn't give me the chance to be.
On May 29, the Fostering Youth Success Alliance (FYSA) hosted its 5th Annual Foster Youth Shadow Day. Sixteen students from across New York City made their way to City Hall for an opportunity to shadow one of New York City’s council members. While shadowing key members of city council, advocates learned about the functions of city government while becoming more civically engaged as youth advocates.
On Tuesday January 29th more than 60college-age foster youth joined child welfare workers and other advocates for Fostering Youth Success Alliance’s annual advocacy day in Albany. Advocates met with dozens of senators and assemblymembers to share their stories and stress the importance of full funding for New York State’s Foster Youth College Success Initiative.
On January 29, the Fostering Youth Success Alliance (FYSA) hosted the first ever New York State Foster Youth Shadow Day. Twelve college students from across the state traveled to Albany and got the opportunity to shadow one of New York State’s assembly members, senators, or a staff member from the governor’s office. In the process, the advocates learned about how state government functions while becoming more civically engaged as youth advocates.
